Art: Paintings & Collages
Kelly Cressio-Moeller is a poet and visual artist. After a longer pause, Cressio-Moeller returned to painting during the pandemic lockdown when the quietude necessary for poetry eluded her in a suddenly full house. She paints primarily colorful abstract works in acrylic, both on canvas and wood panel, adding layer upon layer of paint or additional objects – paper, tacks, glass beads, thread, buttons, gilding, or colored plexiglass to create collage/assemblage pieces. While she uses traditional brushes for most background preparation, palette knives, Q-tips, toothpicks, and a butane torch are her tools of choice for the remaining compositions. Her four creative touchstones are, in no particular order: Poetry, Art, Nature, and Music. When she’s working intently in one area, that practice nourishes the remaining others. She lives, writes, and paints in San Jose.
All works have been varnished using museum quality UV application, however she recommends those with a mixed media/collage paper element involved avoid being place or hung in direct sunlight.
